Nothing in HoM will be "NEED" stuff, only cosmetic. It will not give you any kind of advantage as far as game play is concerned.
I can't wait to hear all the morons complaining when GW2 finally comes and they find out what they really get from HoM, right now it seams like people think it's going to be like a GW supermarket.

I want to speculate on this a little.
Since it is believed (not confirmed) that there will be town clothes and glam items, rings and necklaces. wouldn't it stand to reason that this is what the majority of it will be? At 1st it sounds bad BUT I like this idea. for example: Conquer of the fissure of woe, it could be a hooded cloak with the felblade animation. I will be happy with whatever I get from the HoM as it will still seperate me from those that never played gw1. I do agree tho that the majority of players that think they will have a head start or a direct transfer of things are going to be upset. The HoM ia an UNLOCK, we all know that just because something is unlocked doesn't mean that you get it from the start.
Now I want to say a few other things,
This is a good update. I am slightly confused, why they just do not make all titles account based at this point and be done with it? There is 1 last question I and 4 million+ other people would like to know the answer to and that is: What are the min/recommended system specs going to be? A little heads up will go a long way.

Alot of different sources. I beleive it was touched on in the gw2 special edition pc gammer mag. Where they were discussing "concepts". I have heard it from Devs and from other sources. I am NOT going to go digging through 1000's of threads, wiki talks, online articles and the like.

what is a "town cloth"?
I would probably class essentially useless jewellery as glam items, which is what I think a lot of us were expecting given the no advantage plan.

I would love to see unlocks that are fitting to the title or accomplishment. For example, along the consumption track Drunkards get a lampshade helmet, Party Animals a special dance emote, and those that have maxed sweet tooth are able to choose a different body type -- one that is more husky -- when creating their character.
That's the kind of thing that I would like.

i'm curious as to how this will actually be implemented. as i commented in the guildwars livejournal community, the wording that anet uses suggests that the monument will show your character wearing armor that another character bought. ie, will my ranger be wearing mesmer obsidian armor, or will my ranger be wearing ranger obsidian that she hasn't bought? if that makes sense.
like if you have obsidian armor unlocked, will your monuments show whichever character you are currently logged on to wearing it? or will it show something like the picture above? lol.

I've been keeping fairly up-to-date with the news concerning this and I haven't seen anything clarifying what you say we "know."
I understand not taking the time to find the source, because I sure as hell know I don't want to take the time to do that, but I'd think it's better to only state things as a definite when we're willing to re-check our sources so that we can be accurate instead of, potentially, creating rumours based on misread information.

That's a great point. I hadn't even considered that myself. Hell, you may have just saved a lot of people a LOT of disappointment haha

That's how I understood it, based on the Dev Update quoted.

I was a little sleepy when I made that 1st post. You are correct in that we/I know nothing beyond what the other people in the community have access to. I have edited my original post to reflect that.
I am going to say I beleive that gaile grey said," AS AN EXAMPLE, your unlock my be a map or that you may need to find the HoM before you get the ?????? that you get from it". (This is a translation from memory.)
I think it is a very special thing that a-net has decided to do this for us. There is a very short list of games that have let you get somthing for playing the previous version of it. Not everyone will be happy. My opinon is I am happy with anything as it is better than nothing. I HOPE that there will be more physical glam items than titles/or quest items. Once again that is my opinon.

Ty Anet. I haven't played on anyother char since the titles come out. Looking forward to it.
Only down side... is that I might be tempted to work on a LDoA. lol. Eww...lol
I'm wondering how the Wisdom and Treasure hunter titles will work out. I guess it's just a HoM thing but it would be nice it affected all your chars if you did it once.
This might make it into the 3rd ie first Thursday of next month big release. We'll see.

Lyra, normally I'd be right behind you in the fight against grind, in spirit if not actually in person, but... I'd have to say this particular kind I don't see as being too much of a problem. Grinding for vanity has been in the game since elite armours were introduced - it's the flawed implementation of PvE skills that link grind to mechanical benefit we should be directing our efforts against. If it had any chance of doing any good.
Regarding the actual update... well, I'm glad I held off on purchasing some sets of duplicate armours until after this announcement... now I can prune the list down to the essentials, and maybe even have a shot at FoW.
As for the five sets of elite Canthan... I regret nothing! NOTHING!!!
(Now, if only I could find a definitive list as to what Prophecies armour counts for what statue...)

The HoM should encourage players to go out and play the game, killing monsters, beating bosses, clearing dungeons of evil baddies. It shouldn't reward players for treating GW like an MMO.

I have no problem with passing on physical items via HOM like weapons and armors and minipets.
But some of the more pointless grind titles shouldn't be there, imo. Gee...id like to not pass on the title of being a drunkard to my decendants...Thats really not an accomplishment.

As a Mod you should lead by virtue and use SEARCH,
if not proven other wise it's just an unfounded rumor.

OK, I am a Technician. A limited mod with limited abilities in the Technicians corner thread. I do however like to come out and interact with the community here in other threads when I can.
I am a VERY busy person and refuse to search ever detail in every post I make with "proof" for you, I flat out do not have the time. I have also changed the wording of my posts in this thread to reflect that, please reread them.
I am lead by virtue, Instead of being a forum troll like I was, I help others with there computer issues for free. I have solved many issues for people and guided them in a good direction. I also work for free for a vetrans non-profit organization. I am responsible for veterans, less fortunate familes, and other non-profits receiving much needed computers/laptops for free, instead of them ending in land fills. Not to mention haveing a full time job, a girlfreind and trying to sqeeze in a little game time. This is actually the 1st time I have been questioned on my virtue and I am making sure it is my last. I will always post what I feel is the truth, my memory is not the best, I am still human and prone to be incorrect from time to time.
On the real issue here:
The update will provide a much needed revival for the HoM. Many were very disappointed when they discovered how it worked.

I apologize for the virtue post,
but the fact remains that "regular posters" get the "USE SEARCH " all the time, and posting things without being able to back them up is no good. That's why I posted what I did when you stated you would not bother with search.

all I have to say is : I'm eager to see people starting GW2 expecting to have all their destroyer weapon...
That being said... maybe I could start to work on that Hall.
